St. Mary's Catholic Church was completed on September 1, 1904. The church stands on the corner of Main and Church Streets and is a landmark in Victoria. St. Mary's is one of the most impressive neo-Gothic structures in Texas. The original plans were drawn by Nicholas Clayton. In 1965, the edifice of St. Mary's was designated a Texas Historical Landmark and in 1988 the church received recognition from the Victoria Preservation Society.
